This breathtaking 10-day flying safari combines the dry and savagely beautiful bush country of Meru National Park, Samburu National Reserve and Shaba National Park in Northern Kenya with the open rolling grassland of the Maasai Mara plains. Joy and George Adamson’s legendary adopted lioness Elsa romanced in many of these areas during her lifetime, while Shaba National Park is where Penny the famous Leopard was released. This safari will allow you to follow in their footsteps.

The hand picked accommodation included in this itinerary is full of character. Your stay at Elsa’s Kopje is a real treat. Hidden away amongst the rocky crags, the camp is built very near to the site of George Adamson’s original campsite. There is a sense of space and style which encourages pure relaxation.

Your safari ends in the Maasai Mara with a stay at the unique cottars 1920’s. Situated in an exclusive and extensive concession, this area is private. The camp recalls an era of romance and adventure. Book early to secure one of the only a handful of tents, each made of authentic white canvas and luxuriously furnished. Day 1 Heathrow – Nairobi
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi

Day 2 Nairobi
On arrival transfer to Macushla House for a day at leisure or choose from a selection of optional excursions (book and pay locally).

Day 3 Meru
Early morning light aircraft flight to Meru National park (approximately 1 Hour) and transfer to Elsa’s Kopje. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (B, L, D)

Day 4 – 5 Meru
Early morning and late afternoon game drives (B, L, D)

Day 6 Samburu or Shaba
Depart after breakfast by light aircraft to Samburu national Park or Shaba (approximately 40 minutes) and transfer to Joy’s camp or Samburu Intrepids. After Lunch a late afternoon game drive (B, L, D).

Day 7 Samburu or Shaba
Early morning and late afternoon game drive (B, L, D)

Day 8 Maasai Mara
Fly by light craft to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve (approximately 1h 30min) and transfer to cottars 1920’s. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (B, L, D)

Day 9 Maasai Mara
Take an early morning balloon safari over the Mara followed by a ‘bubbly’ bush breakfast (optional extra) or a game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Rest of the morning at leisure. After Lunch enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (B, L, D)

Day 10 Maasai Mara
Early morning and late afternoon game drive (B, L, D)

Day 11 Extension or Nairobi
Fly by light aircraft to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour) proceed with your chosen extension or overnight at Macushla house. (B)

Day 12 Heathrow
Return flight to Heathrow (B)
